Our Teachers

Boy blowing bubbles-0001

Santa Clara Christian School teachers are trusted guardians and mentors who provide solid academic and spiritual guidance for students to help develop their young minds.

Kindergarten – Mrs. Young

Mrs. Young has been our Kindergarten teacher for over a decade.   Mrs. Young holds her teaching degree from Bethany College and an ACSI Teacher Credential. She has a very active, hands-on approach, to teaching that helps the students solidify a firm foundation in all areas of academics. Also, as a pastor’s wife and Christian mentor, she has a passion to help her students discover God’s love for them. When she is not spending time with her grandchildren, she enjoys reading and gardening.

1st Grade – Mrs. Harter

I graduated from Maranatha Baptist Bible College, and soon after started teaching at San Francisco Christian School. My husband and I got married a couple of years later. After moving to Santa Clara, we were blessed with five children over the next ten years. The Lord has allowed us to work in many ministries at our church, over the last almost thirty years. In 2008, I started working at North Valley Baptist Schools, and taught 3rd grade. Now, as I teach 1st grade at Santa Clara Christian School, I love knowing your child and working together with our 1st grade parents.

2nd Grade – Mrs. Nice

Mrs. Nice is the co-founder of Santa Clara Christian School and has been teaching for more than 20 years. She has her BA in Liberal Arts and MA in Education from Pepperdine University. When she is not teaching, she is reading, gardening, or exploring. She is married to Mr. Nice and has 4 children and 1 grandson.

3rd Grade – Mrs. Mackey

Mrs. Mackey has been teaching at Santa Clara Christian School for 9 years. She graduated with her teaching degree from Cal State San Marcos and received her California Teaching Credential from Concordia University. Mrs. Mackey is married and has two children. She enjoys spending time with her family, especially while camping.

4th Grade – Mr. Cole

I was born and raised in the Bay Area. I am in my 7th year of teaching. Working with youth has always been a great passion of mine. I’ve been involved in youth ministry for 15 years, and am currently the Youth Coordinator for my church. I am married and enjoy spending time with my wife and dog, playing and watching sports, surfing, fishing, and going to the gym. I am very blessed and grateful that God has called me to this profession. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

5th Grade – Mrs. Austin

I have been teacher a for over 25 years. Most of my teaching has been in Christian Elementary Schools in the Bay Area. I hold a B.S. degree from Bob Jones University in Elementary Education, with minors in English and Bible. I also have an ACSI Teaching Credential.

I’ve been married for 38 years. My husband is a pastor (and also works part-time for the SF Giants!)… We have two grown children and one grandson. I love to read, travel, and spend time with my family and friends.
